ROMANIAN FOLK ART TREASURIES


For many millenniums Romanian villagers and craftsmen have been directing historical development of this wonderful land. Ukrainian honorable worker of arts Ihor Poshyvaylo tells about Romanian traditional culture. In particular he writes that at present time village phenomenon is partially kept in the country’s museums, in more than 60 ethnographic museums. The land’s authentic world is kept in such an interesting treasure of folk heritage as a museum under the open sky in Bucharest. Another unique place is Museum of Romanian Peasantry that has collection of 90 thousand of rarities, articles of national and world value. The main area of our neighbors folk art is tradition of painting on glass, in particular in icons. Our neigbors also paint pysanky, in pottery center Oboga-Olt potters make ceramic pysanky. Romanians are good at making ritual and magic articles for den, carnivals. Special place in folk art is occupied by traditional clothes, folk fabric, pottery, carving. It is a belief in flourishing of Romanian folk tree.
