MYKHAYLO ONATSKO’S CHUMATSKY ROAD
For many years Mykhaylo Onatsko from the village Shyshaky Dakansky region in Poltava area has been working in painting. In his works the master depicts the most dearest for him things that he has observed in the everyday life of his native village. His pictures express poetic nostalgia as an isolation of moral and aesthetic values of life. The dominant motive of the master’s works is his original coloring and truthful way of life of Ukrainian people, beauty and poetry of ancient Poltave traditions, customs, songs. In Mykhaylo Onatsko’s pictures everything is symbolic, ideal, pure and nave that is peculiar to folk art. He has created a serial of works of different themes – villagers’ traditions and customs, heroism, Christmas, Easter, temple holidays as well as wedding, fair, new-year celebrations.
