HEIRESS OF THE WEAVING VERES FAMILY


Valentyna Veres’ weaving art attracts the viewers’ attention everywhere. The master’s works have represented the national Ukrainian culture in Japan, Croatia, Afghanistan, Mongolia, France, China and other countries. She comes from a famous weavers’ family – her grandmother Mariya Posobchuk and mother Hanna Veres are famous Ukrainian weavers from Maly Obukhovychy in Kyiv region. Friendly atmosphere inspired the master to move along her own weaving path. Besides, she has got professional education in Kyiv College of light industry (1967 – 1970), mastered construction and modeling of women’s clothes. Not once she was marked by different awards at the exhibitions, etc. The master is the NUFAMU member (1998), honorable artist of Ukraine. This year Valentyna Veres has become a laureate in the folk decorative art area – she has been awarded with the art prize “Kyiv” named after Sergiy Kolos. The author of the narration is expert in art Tamara Honcharenko.
