AMONG BOOKS


Under this title the second volume of the book History of Ukrainian Decorative Art is presented. The volume is dedicated to the decorative art of the XVII – XVIII centuries that enriched the history of Ukrainian culture with new works, trends and art phenomena. All kinds and genres of decorative art are analyzed from the point of view of the evolution of art styles – at first Renaissance then Baroque and Rococo. The author of the information is the Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine Tetiana Kara-Vasylieva says the second volume consists of separate chapters that reveal development of ceramics, tapestry, weaving, embroidery, cloth-es, cutting icons of the XVII – XVIII centuries, researches made by the Ukrainian leading specialists. In general the edition foresees five volumes that will cover the history of Ukrainian decorative art from ancient times till our days.


OUR NEW PUBLICATIONS


The Publishing House Folk Sources published three albums-catalogues: Ivan Bobkov. Art Ceramics, Andriy Kamene-tsky. Art Woodcutting, Serhiy Todorchuk Pottery in the series “Grant from the President of Ukraine to Young Ma-sters of Folk Art”. Designer and compiler of all three albums is Yevhen Shevchenko. One more publication from the series “Outstanding Figures of Ukrainian Folk Art” is an interesting album of the master from Kyiv region Liudmyla Vitkovska. The author of the article is Veniamin Vitkovsky. The opening address is by Ihor Poshyvaylo and Yevhen Shevchenko. Two more unique albums about the geniuses of the Ukrainian folk art “Mariya Pryimachenko” – to the 100th anniversary from her birth and “Hanna Shostak-Sobachko” alongside with the album “Chyhyryn – 2008” about the traditional Union summer pottery symposium dedicated to the New Year have been published.
