STRAW CALF 2008 IN LUTSK
This is the name of the first international forum-symposium of straw wicker work masters that took p[lace in June this year. The art expert Volodymyr Tytarenko analyses this art event and writes that continuation and development of such regional initiatives is very desirable and important. They contribute to all Ukrainian art process of the development of the modern folk creativity. It was the honorable folk master Mariya Vasylivna Krav-chuk who initiated the forum. Her wonderful works from straw have been known far outside Ukraine for many years. The forum was supported by the regional administration, NUFAMU. Guests from Bilorus, Russia, Hungary appreciated the warm, friendly, creative atmosphere of this event. Traditions of art usage of straw goes back to the depth of the centuries and nowadays this material gains its new life.
