SYNTHETIC VARIETY OF VASYL KORCHYNSKY’S CREATIVITY
Hryhoriy Mishchenko, art critic, thinks that vytynanka for Vasyl Korchynsky, a member of the National Artists Union of Uk-raine, is not something secondary in his creativity but reflection of his outlook. The master managed to convert the “local” tradition into a real modern form of a specific genre, made a “break-through” there where the high art again becomes “clear” and needed for wide circles of Ukrainian society. The master has proved: address to the sources of folk creativity can be not just stylization, as it has lately been, but the need in national self-expression in art practice. Vasyl Korchynsky from Podil area and Mykola Telizhenko from Cherkasy managed to make out of a traditional vytynanka a modern synthetic variety of art creativity.
