CHYHYRYN – 2008
From 1 to 21 July 2008 in the historical place Chyhyryn there took place the 6th All-Ukrainian Youth Potter’s Symposium. “Ukrainian Jug” became the main topic of the event. Since ancient times among potter’s dishes a jug has been treated as a sacral article in traditional Ukrainian culture and has been used in wedding and funeral rites. It is a symbolic image of a woman, woman’s essence, grace and beauty. Yevhen Shevchenko, the honorable art worker of Ukraine, tells the readers about young potters from different parts of Ukraine who, under the supervision of experienced masters – members of the Union, had everything at their disposal for creative activity. The final exhibition proved the high level of technique of the Symposium’s participants. The NUFAMU and the Symposi-um’s organizers got ensured in the necessity of such pottery universities.
