Vasyl Parakhin and His World Expert in art Zoya Navrotska tells about a real fighter in the field of Ukrainian culture. Vasyl Parakhin started his activity in the sixties and today he is establishing a school of folk painting in the village Zhuravliky, Gorokhiv area. His personal activity he identifies with the fight for Ukraine. “Folk Art Tomorrow: Revival or Imitation?” – it’s the topic of his report made in Ivan Gonchar Museum in Kyiv. Under this slogan he has published a number of articles in different editions. The practical evidence of his theoretical statements was his devoted work in 1960 – 1970 on the position of the senior engineer-artist in the Ukrainian Ministry of Timber Industry. At that time he managed to convert the poorly developed industry into real branches of revival of traditional Ukrainian trades. The master contributed a lot into the art and production workshops of the Ukrainian SSR Art Fund. He trained a great number of artists, whose works filled the golden collection of Ukrainian culture. The author of the article writes that V. Parakhin teaches young inhabitants of Volyn on the basis of ancient canons of folk art. She tells about the great success of the Parakhin School exhibitions in Lutsk and Kyiv that were highly esteemed by professionals, visitors, the President of Ukraine. |
