The World 1933 Exhibition in Chicago

Martha Bachynska tells our readers that from October 2007 to May 2008 in Ukrainian Museum in New-York there was held an exhibition “The Path to the Past: Ukrainian Folk Art at the World 1933 Exhibition in Chicago”. The Museum was founded in 1976 by the Union of Ukrainian Women. The displays of the current exhibition make the basis of the Museum folk art items collection. The exhibition was visited by more than 39 million people, and about 2 million visited the Ukrainian pavilion. The visitors saw the items related to Ukrainian history, art and everyday life. Special attention was attracted by the works of sculptor-innovator Oleksander Arkhypenko and folk art. In 2005, in the USA thanks to Ukrainian Community there was built a modern house, where the Ukrainian Museum moved. It was opened with the unforgettable exhibitions of Oleksander Arkhypenko’s works and Ukrainian folk art.
