Creativity – a Pure Prayer of the Soul The article is dedicated to the memory of Pelageya Khlian, pysanky painter from the village Chernykiavka, Yavorivskyi region, Lviv oblast. Yevgeniya Gayova tells that the master started painting pysanky from the age of five. Her desire was to bring happiness to people. The author of the article met the master when she was 79. Nevertheless her house was full of people – they came there to paint and youth to learn to create a real pysanka. The main artistic effect of her paintings is not in the richness of colors but in the ability to unite symbols. Her pysanky mainly are in two colors, with the plant and geometrical ornaments. In her area Pelageya Khlian was the master, keeper of ancient traditions. Decorating with a relevant symbol she followed a corresponding rite, then the works got a very high spiritual quality. |
