THE BIRD’S SMILE Heroes of engraver Vasyl Sidak’s works look like smiling birds, as if they break ancient rind and go out of the tree, as if from the ancient history, having shed husk of neglect. Such is journalist Valeriy Yasynkovskyi’s perception the Carpathian wonderful world created by the sculptor. The graduator of Uzhgorod Applied Art College had been a master of Carpathian souvenirs till he met, about thirty years ago, a real admirer of this kind of art, who saw the master’s gift from the God to reveal trees’ soul and proposed him to carve two sculpture compositions for important exhibitions in Kyiv. Since then Vasyl Sidak has given birth to a number of art children. There has been success in Kyiv, triumph in Moscow, abroad… The master’s sixtieth jubilee was marked by a wide exposition in the Folk Art Union hall that later moved to Uzhgorod, where the Carpathian creative intelligentsia had opportunity to admire and evaluate his works. The two wings of human happiness hold harmonic Sidak’s family. |
