VYTYNANKY SCHOOL


Andriy Pushkariov, a well-known master and teacher in vytynanky, pysankas and graphics from Dnipropetrovsk shares his experience. The author enriched his narration with the history of vytynanky's appearance in the era of Chinese culture — "Chuan-khuan" (window patterns) with invention of paper (VII — XII centuries). He paid great attention to vytynanky made by his countrymen from Petrytivtsi as well as to the other Ukrainian regions were vytynanky art is popular, in particular in Mogylev-Podolskyi. Revival of interest to national cultures the author interprets as people's protest against total globalization. He holds his training in pysankas' art school on the basis of revival of national traditions.
