CARVER OLEKSANDR OLESHKO Mykhaylo Gnatiuk, PhD in Art tells about the creativity of this talented master, which in its own way reflects the modern situation in Poltava carving based on the ancient folk traditions. The author follows the master's creativity from the family carpenter's handy-craft through studies in Yavorivska art trades school, where he mastered under the supervision of qualified teachers different kinds of classical and Yavorivska technique of carving. In the 60s O. Oleshko moved back to Poltava area. He teaches youth to sketch, draw, and holds carving clubs. He constantly participates in different exhibitions and soon is invited to Poltava. The end of the 70 — 80s is fruitful with participation in exhibitions, including foreign. Since 1985 the master has been the member of the Folk Masters' Union; not once he has participated in top level competitions where he was awarded with a number of prizes. |
