Valeriy Yasynovskyi

ENDLESS

This name Valeriy Yasynovskyi gave to his narration about Vasylyna Sumariak —pysankas' painter, who inherited her talent from her mother and even more from her grandmothers and then taught her daughter. Vasylyna lives in Ust-Putyly neighborhood, where every person knows her house — close and far neighbors, relatives, acquaintances of her acquaintances long before the holiday stay in a queue to order her pysankas. For Vasylyna painting pysankas is a holiday of her heart — geometric patterns, endless shapes, the whole fantastic world of colors and lines that emerges from the depth of her soul is reflected on the egg surface. Vasylyna's fate is not easy — soon after the war her father was sent to Kolymsky mines and after was evicted. When he was back to Bukovyna, he didn't manage to get a job and his family had to find it in Zaporizhia. However Vasylyna missed the native mountains and moved back to her granny. Later in Ust-Putyly she became famous in making carpets and has a lot of diplomas and honors for her works and also known in the whole Ukraine as a prominent pysankas' painter.
