NATIVITY. It’s a folk art piece, Christmas mystery. In nativity two-layer chest one can see a real two-part drama. The first part tells about the Christ’s birth and angry Tsar Herod. At the top there’s the God, saints, angels and those, who worship the God. The second part of the drama takes place on the Earth, where worldly characters act. Svitlana Mushtenko and Galyna Pavlenko introduce a unique collection of nativity chests and dolls, kept in the Museum of Theatrical, Musical and Cinema Art of Ukraine (at the territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve). Ukrainian mystery theater attracts the whole cultural world attention.
