SERBYNIVKA VILLAGE TRADITIONAL CLOTHING


Rayisa Tsapun, associate professor from Rivne State Humanities’ University, suggests the outcome of her ethnographic investigation, carried out in her native Budychany village (Serbynivka village till 1947) in Zhytomyr region. She was lucky to discover numerous samples of material culture, such as ancient folk clothing, domestic utensils and pottery. The author researches local peculiarities of clothing in detail, draws attention to its perfection, compositional harmony of separate elements. Women’s blouses that date back to the early XX century, 50-60s, skirts, aprons, rural shoes as well as belts, decorations, hats have been in the researcher’s focus of attention that are a valuable part of the Ukrainian national culture.
