LESIA DENYSENKO-YEREMENKO’S CLAY SCULPTURES Anatoliy Shevchuk, an art historian, analyses Lesia’s activity and tries to find the secret of every day and forest world clay sculptures. He comes to the conclusion that the secret is in the composition — every image (a goat, a heron, a lion, a cock, a cat etc.) is from the Ukrainian folk fairy tale, proverb or saying. Every image refers to national customs and traditions. The master’s way of expression comes from the potters’ family “university”. It was just after the war when Lesia’s father, Hryhoriy Denysenko, founded in Vasylkiv, near Kyiv, such a university. Lesia has graduated from the Polytechnic University but it was her father, a remarkable Ukrainian potter, who inspired her for creative activity. |
