Last August on the territory of the Ukrainian NAS Architectural and Every Day Life Museum with the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Tourism support there was held the first Ukrainian wooden sculpture symposium. 14 masters from different regions participated in it. Ihor Bilevych, the Symposium’s participant, writes that in Pirohovo there was a good environment for sharing opinions, ideas, experience, technical and technological methods of carving. The Symposium lasted for two weeks. Among the participants there were Vasyl Sidak and Zinoviy Perestiuk from Carpathians, Vasyl Slobodian from Vinnytsia and others. The President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko visited the Symposium and outlined the high level of works and wished success to all the participants in revival and development of Ukrainian culture.
