The new state cultural policy priorities are set, the national originality is established step by step. In this sense the exhibition project “Christmas: Colors and Melodies of Ukrainian Holiday” that was held from December 29, 2005 till January 28 2006 has a great importance. There were presented folk art antiques from the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko’s private collection, as well as from Petro Gonchar, Lidiya Lykhach and Vasyl Vovkun’s collections. In his welcoming speech Viktor Yushchenko pointed out that saving traditional art values is not a private business, though, unfortunately, the indigenous national culture is not presented in a due way in our museums. The Ukrainians should save invaluable folk treasures. This cultural project turned into a mobile exhibition and traveled all round Ukraine during the whole year.
