VALENTYNA KHARLOVA'S BLUE BIRDS

The art expert Serhiy Latanskyi writes that this master during some decades worked in the traditional Ukrainian embroidery, learned about a hundred embroidery techniques and taught others. Valentyna Kharlova is the honorable teacher of Ukraine, during many years she worked as a teacher of Ukrainian history in Zaporizhie Institute of Postgraduate Training. The pupils of the Vizerunok children's studio and former pupils of the Berehynia embroidery school are her followers. Many of them are the masters of decorative art, members of the NUFAMU, teachers of the traditional trade mysteries. The everyday work with a needle is not an obstacle for the master's research activity in studying style evolution of embroidery in the South of Ukraine. A number of Charlova's works is kept in Ukrainian museums, private collections in Canada, the USA and Austria. She is a constant participant of the exhibitions and is very proud of her pupils' expositions.
