Inna VAPNJARSKA-KUDAS. Village fence of Kiev. 2003. Paper, gouache. |
IN THE WAY OF CREATIVE PERCEPTION The first presentation of Inna Vapniarska-Cudas works took place three years ago. (See Folk Art magazine No 1 - 2, 2003). This year she again reports in the Center with her personal exhibition and amazes the visitors with sixty works that witness about her fruitful activity and follow the motives of Ukrainian folk traditions and customs. Hryhoriy Mishchenko points out that these were the topics, plots, names, feeling of Ukrainian world and high quality performance of I. Vapniarska's works, that represent formal and contest peculiarities of her activity, that have been developed during the last years. The author is surprised how the citizen of Kyiv, professional graphic artist, with such deep penetration and artistic tact is moving along the way where, as it might seem, everything had already been done in Petrikivskyi painting. Isn't it the sign of the time that nowadays we dig out from the depth of our genetic memory the things that were hidden under the bushel during centuries? Through the variety of ornaments we comprehend relation of our traditions with the great Indo-European culture, the culture of Ariys, we comprehend their semantics. |
