MARIYA BURIAK

MARIYA BURIAK was born August 16, 1935 in the village of Kovalyn, Kyiv region. Due to the serious disease she had only three years at school and continued the education herself. The young talent grew amidst the wonderful nature - on one side of the house one could hear the noise of the forest, on the other side there was a meadow with vibumum bushes and charming nightingales' trill. It is the nature that is the source of her inspiration, variety of art emotions, smithy of her strong-willed and patient character, her creative laboratory. Such is the point of view of the authors of the narration Yevhen Shevchenko and Vasyl Shcherbak. The meeting with the painter Liza Mironova, who saw Mariya's drawings and advised her to make some paintings for the Kyiv art exhibition, opened for the young master the way for participation in different exhibitions, including personal. Mariya implements her creative energy mostly in decorative paintings on paper - plant and ornamental compositions as well as works where the plant motives are mixed with the drawings of birds, animals; there are also compositions linked with the historical past of Ukrainian people. The master's works are kept in many Ukrainian museums and institutions.
