MYROSLAVA COT'S TALENT AND ACTIVITY Embroidery, science, math - these three notions can give the fullest characteristics of Myroslava Cot's creative activity. The author of the article PhD in Arts Raisa Zakharchuk-Chugay writes that Myroslava Cot has been carrying her love for embroidery through all her live. She was born in 1933 in Warsaw, in 1943 moved to Drohobych, where she graduated from the Pedagogical Institute and started her working career as a teacher of mathematics. In 1982 she organized the Folk Embroidery Club at the civil professions department. 10 years after she became the head of the first in Ukraine chair of the methods and history of folk trades. M. Cot learned museums and private collections, archives. Scientific proofs of her knowledge and ideas found their reflections in scientific articles, catalogues, methodological works. M. Cot is the honorable master of folk art of Ukraine, the NUFAMU member, one of the leading embroiderers of Ukraine, talented teacher who has taught the art of embroidery more than 500 students. Myroslava Cot has played a significant role in popularization of Ukrainian folk embroidery all over the world, in particular, in the USA. Her folk shirts (sorochkas) bear old traditions alongside with the modern, fashionable trends. |
