THE GOLDEN THREAD OF FOLK CREATIVITY
Under the title Our Jubilees there's a story about the Kyiv Center of NUFAMU 10-year-jubilee. The author of the article Yevhen Shevchenko points out that folk decorative art of the Kyiv area has been developing since ancient times and the proves lie in original cultures. In early XX century creation of the Kyiv Handicraft Society and organization of the All-Ukrainian Folk Art Exhibition were the remarkable events in Ukrainian cultural life. During the years of its activity the Society contributed into the traditional art raising to the phenomena of national culture. The Kyiv Center of the NUFAMU became a real successor of this activity in the middle of the 90-s. The initiators for its creation were the folk art masters and on April 2, 1994 in Kyiv there was announced the establishment of the creative self-governing professional organization. The aims of the Center are revival and development of the ancient types and genres of decorative art and art trades that represent folk culture. The author analyses the Center's 10-year's enthusiastic activity that includes 70 art events, in particular, 17 collective big exhibitions, 28 personal expositions. Being formed as a creative personnel, the Center is able to continue its activity in the direction of the Kyiv area art traditions' development.
