UKRAINIAN POTTERY DEVELOPMENT IN THE XXth CENTURY.

Olena Klymenko's article is dedicated to the peculiarities of Ukrainian folk ceramics in the XXth century, within which changes in nature as well as organization of pottery production, in technology, in range and also goods functional purpose took place. The crafs disappeared in the majority of centers, number of potters decreased, artistic peculiarities of artworks worsened. Those changes were, first of all, associated with historical conditions that were generally unfavorable. Collectivization, famine, high taxes etc. However, there were some attempts made to support pottery: activity of district friendly associations, museums, Artists' Union of Ukraine and National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine. In the article it is noted, that XXth century Ukrainian ceramics was being developed within two main directions, i.e. amateur home-made production and production at plants.
