ARTISTIC WEAVING IN PODILLIA ARTISTIC WEAVING IN PODILLIA has penetrated into people's everyday life. Its traditions were passed from generation to generation as a precious treasure. Podoliany (inhabitants of Podillia region) artistically decorated their huts' interior mostly with weaved pieces, such as "nalavnyky" (covers for benches), "pidvikonnya" (covers for window sills), tapestries and also rushnyky, table-cloths, bedspreads, sackcloths, etc. One also could observe artistic samples of high class weaving in Podillia folk clothes, such as belts, dresses, shawls, etc. Halyna Medvedchuk studies artistic peculiarities of art pieces, particularly, chiaroscuro weaving effect as well as rushnyky's ornamental designs, belts' decoration, Podiallia women head-dresses' peculiarities, fancy samples of geometrical designs and colors of tapestries. Simple village women were very good at weaving, as their wise teacher was nature, full of harmony and beauty. |
