PICTURES ON OVENS OF THE LEFT BANK KATERYNOSLAVSCHYNA THAT DATE BACK TO 1910s are researched by an art expert, Yuliya Smoliy, on the basis of the unique materials recently found in the Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art archives. Those are pictures that date back to 1914, created by Mykola Valukin (Valukinskyi) - an artist, ethnographer, archeologist as well as D.Scherbakivskyi and M.Biliashivskyi's friend, whose name and activity are unknown to the Ukrainian scientific and artistic people. The article's author provides readers with the information about the artist and launches his 1914 artworks, such as pictures of ovens from the villages of Lychkove, Kotovka, Spaske, Staryi Kaidak of Katerynoslavsk province, into scientific and cultural world. That's the first substantial art research of pictures on ovens as specific folk art pieces, decoration of which is closely associated with the peculiarities of subject's form and construction. The article is accompanied with Mykola Valukin's illustrations that are published for the first time.
