HANNA VASYLASCHUK'S WEAVING HANNA VASYLASCHUK'S WEAVING - Liudmyla Zhohol's, a folk artist of Ukraine, memories about "a weaving poet" - a famous master from Sheshory, that is in Ivano-Frankivsk region, Hanna Vasylaschuk. They met in fifties, when the author was amazed by weaving in the hostess's hut - all her curtains, strips of carpet, rushnyky and tissues were united by similar ornamental designs, composition as well as colors range. Although she applied the motives peculiar to her countrymen, she reproduced and combined them in her own special way. She used to love poetry, especially Taras Shevchenko, she could freely recite poems and created her rushnyky in such a way, that every ornamental pattern reflected lines from poems. In 1968 the weaver was granted the highest county's T.Shevchenko award, later- it was an Honorable Folk Art Master. Hanna Vasylaschuk's name will remain in our folk art's history as of one of the genius weaving master of Ukraine. |
