ROAD TO DREAMLAND
Oleh Skrypka, the "VV" Band singer, has been gathering people for the unique folklore show for several years already. The conceptual idea of these performances, so called vechornytsi, is to evoke ethnogenetic memory, to widen national self-consciousness as well as for viewers to express their own creative potential and act both as the show participants and designers of the Dreamland. This year vechornytsi have been held in Ivan Honchar Museum Folk Culture Ukrainian Center, where musical and singing programs have been created by such folklore bands as Volodar, Bozhychi, Hurtopravtsi, Buttia and Khreschatyi Yar. Being real admirer of folk traditions, the President of Ukraine Victor Yuschenko visited this show with his family. Diplomatic representatives of other countries, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine Oksana Bilozir, the Head of the Department for Culture in Kyiv Oleksandr Bystrushkin joined the Ukrainian art world. The information on the holiday was provided by an ethnologist, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Ihor Poshyvailo, pictures by the author and Bohdan Poshyvailo.
