Volodymyr Moroz, the head of Chernihiv department of the Union tell about Olena Moroz's way to folk sources. She did her first steps in Siberia under her mother's influence, who was the art teacher. There she finished art and industrial college, studied at the art and graphic department of the Novosybirsk Pedagogical Institute. Then she got married and from 1988 has lived in Chernihiv. She was in search of her own way in art and she found it only after she had learned the works of the classics of Ukrainian folk art K. Bilokur, M. Pryimachenko, T. Pata, M. Tymchenko, who inspired her for creative art activity. She created in the town the children's group of traditional decorative painting and for three years has been the head of the Dzhereltse studio on a voluntary basis. The studio had exhibitions at home, then in Kyiv in Ukraina palace and in 1999 in the NUFAMU hall for admirers of folk art. Her own works - about 40 pictures - Olena exhibited in the Union in 2001. Her pictures impress by richness of fantasy, compositional feeling, mythological approach and the love for perfect shapes. Her works contain folk moral, ethics.
