(p.5) The First Kyiv Exhibition of folk wooden sculpture under such name, held in Lavra art gallery became a significant event in the artistic life of Ukraine. It certified high artistic achievements of folk art masters from different regions of the state and its constant relation to "professional" practice. At present folk sculpture art has been filled with new sense, has been thematically and stylistically enriched, although it stayed out of the researchers' and art experts' attention. At the exhibition the visitors saw 240 art works of 65 masters, among them were - multi figure compositions by Vasyl Sidak, Zinoviy Perestiuk, Vasyl Zavhorodniy, Vitaliy Shum, Volodymyr Varava and others. Attractive sculptural pieces dedicated to Shevchenko, figurative comprehension of Ukrainian history, perfection of small art works of plastics and animal painting. An author of the article about the art action "Veles - 2003" as well as an active organizer of its holding - is an Honorable Figure of Arts of Ukraine Yevhen Shevchenko.
