Plakhta(page44) The Folk Architecture and Every Day Life Ukrainian Museum ethnographer Yevheniya Hayova continues narration about Poltava folk clothes. From literature, scientific and expedition sources it is known that in the XIXth century plakhty were made throughout Poltavshchyna, and it was enough of raw material for it - sheep dog breeding was a traditional branch of cattle breeding in this area. Big herds gave good wool, and rich plants provided raw materials for paint. Plakhta weaving was most popular in Myrhorod-shchyna, Zinkivshchyna, Hadiachuni. By the way in the last place the greatest number of plakhts was bought. Each plakhta in the museum collection is an art masterpiece. The author illustrates his narration by photos and describes in details specific features of this cloth in different regions, and more over in different oblast villages. Zapaska or Poperednytsia was put onto a plakhta machine. The author also presents their types.
