Memories about Smotrych - is one of the most favorite author's pottery centers Olena Klymenko, Master in Art Sciences, which she got to know for the first time at the end of 70s. This Podillia land is rich in deposits of different pottery clays. In particular, an old guild place already in 1448 received the Magderburg right. Guilds in Podillya were eliminated about 1900, but in NUAFMU a few bowls and half-bowls of Smotrych guild masters are kept. The most interesting samples of Smotrych painting ceramics date to the first third of the XXth century, in particular, these are works of Karp Bilookyi (1888 - 1974), by the way it was his wife Uliana who painted them (1894 - 1963). The author writes in details about his meetings with Smotrych potters and countrymen, stories about them. Smotrych masters' paintings are distinguished by lightness, tenderness, minimum number of painting elements. Their activity is already a history. Only museum collections saved their works. And thus we know Smotrych pottery school.
