VasyI Devdiuk (1873 - 1951) - an outstanding master of wood and metal carving of Hutsulshcnyna, innovator in decorating articles from wood. During 30 years he taught in Vyzhnytska school of wood trade and metal ornaments. In early 20-s he founded free private school. 45 masters finished it. The master took carving skills from his father, and the big art world was opened to him at the Sskribliak's house. He learned technique of art metal processing from Nykora and Dmytro Duchaki. He participated in art and industrial exhibition in Krakow and got there a medal. In 1894 he was a participant of a regional exhibition in Lviv (silver medal). Art expert Valentyna Molyn writes in details about the master's teaching and creative work. She writes about his participation and victories in a number of exhibitions. The teacher's highly artistic works, as well as the works of his successors, are kept now in a great number of Ukrainian museums and in private collections.
