Yuriy Shmyhol is a former mathematician. He comes from Poltava. Now lives in Kyiv. He started painting after he was forty and since then has never left his paint-brush. The master has already created about 350 canvases different in genre. It is impossible to define his painting by a notion "Ukrainian naive". It is exclusively inner expression of his "Ego", in which the world of images appears from genetic memory. The master paints Ukraine, brings its past into nowadays by means of varieties of every day pictures, historical pictures, still life, landscapes. He creates with the feeling of native land. The artist feels tight within the means of naive, that's why he "professionalizes" in a course of time, but subtly and with good taste. He creates with heart.
