Zakarpattia pottery has its own history. Pottery traditions of the villages Vilkhivka and Irshavshchyna are known from ancient times. In the second half of the XXth century one of the most well-known masters here was Mykhaylo Halas, who inherited experience from his father and mother and dedicated to this art about 60 years, up to the last breath. Halas made several thousands of pottery articles - pokers, bowls, pots. He was a real master in making smooth thin crock, ornament carving. He created many original articles and initiated making ornaments by graffito technique. From a simple craftsman to a world-known master - this is Halas' creative development, participant of regional, oblast, all-Union, international exhibitions. He was awarded with a golden medal at the international exhibition in Montreal. In total he had more than 200 diplomas and diplomas of laureate of amateur work festivals.
