VITALIY SHUM'S ART ACTIVITY is analyzed by art expert from Sumy Yevheniya Kocherzhenko. First Vitaliy participated in the art exhibition when he was a student. After graduating from Kharkiv building institute the young man learns how to work at lathe, different carving technique, learns wood, its types, characteristics, works at bas-relief, round sculpture of small forms and experiences in monumental forms. Since then he has participated in oblast, republican, all-Union, international exhibitions, where his works were marked with diplomas, honorable awards, medals. The work in architecture helped Shum to communicate more with the arts and crafts masters. In Sumy Shum was awarded with the oblast prize for the city children's park "Kazka" ("Fairy-tale") design. The master continues to study activity of folk carvers, becomes more and more engaged in sculpture, relief of genre direction. Folk songs, ballads, history of his native area, every day items, pictures of passed epochs are his creative laboratory, his inspiration. The master's works are deeply national, full of good humor and poetry. The master shares his knowledge with the pupils of secondary school #24 with artistic specialization and has his own plans connected with Ukrainian history, literature, with life.
