SERHIY HLUSHCHUK, has changed abstractionism into realism. His exhibition in the Folk Art Union halls in Kyiv was just the evidence. The turn of a professional artist to a figurative manner has national direction. The master from Uzhorod dedicated his works for reflecting of everyday realities of the area. He introduces public traditions and customs that distinguish western Ukraine from other regions. His pictures about everyday life have both realistic and conditional character in the form of idealization of Ukrainian reality (in positive interpretation), the reality that had already passed but has direct influence on present. Serhiy Hlushchuk graduated from the Kyiv Art institute (1985) and then taught there till 1990. After that during a year and a half (2001 - 2002) he managed to create more than forty pictures that are not only interesting but cognitive as well. The beloved format is square. He manages to depict there Ukraine in time space, to raise spectators' memories about Carpathians and their inhabitants. Hryhoriy Mishchenko, art critic, analyzing in details the exhibited master's works, welcomes revival of figurative features in painting on folk traditions and considers the manner the author has chosen absolutely right. |
