TAVRY - TVERTSY — TYVERTSI
TAVRY - TVERTSY — TYVERTSI —
the article gives an overview of
Volodymyr Priadka, a folk artist of
Ukraine, of almost unknown history of
Podillia with its ancient tribe called
Tyvertsi. This tribe lived in that region
for more than one century. This land is
the middle of Trypillian culture territory,
the ceramic as well as design heritage
of which can be noticed in the art works
of the region till the present time.
Archeological descoveries prove 5 thousand years of life in the village of Bushi.
The great territory of this Nemyriv town
(VI — VII BC) is evidence of its status as
the capital of one of the Slavonic principalities, called Tyverske. Hundreds of
years of struggle of Podoliany against
conquerors didn't wipe the spiritual life
of people, who created their art, out.
This very deep as well as unique art has
got a lot of features, inherited from the
old times. These are carpets with geometrical design, featuring pre-Christian
symbols, different variations of the
World Tree as well as archaic scenes
with original techniques of embroidery,
etc.
Vinnychchyna, a classical region of
embroidery and ceramics, is experiencing times of folk art decadence. An
adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On Folk
Art Crafts" has promoted a program of
their development in the region. Here
there's a lot to do for Vinnitsa office of
the National Union of Folk Art Masters
of Ukraine (Folk Art Union) as well as for
the Regional Center for Folk Art, that
have been training and inspiring masters of embroidery, organizing folk art
exhibitions, holding all-Ukrainian symposia on ceramics as well as art works
made of stone, for many years already.
New efforts are needed to implement
the Law's regulations, particularly opening Vinnitsa Folk Art Museum as well as
museums in such villages as Klembivtsi,
Bubnivtsi, Tyvriv.
