COLORS OF CARPATIANS

Valentyna Dzhuraniuk, a potter of traditional Hutsul ceramics, was born in Babchyntsi village (Podillia region). However, she liked the mountainous area the best and that's why entered Kosiv College of Applied Arts. Kosiv, a well-known center of folk ceramics, became her fate. Valentyna communicated with many very famous potters, who are ancestors of a potter's families. This communication helped her a lot. She makes ceramic pieces as well as paints different ornaments on them herself. Her favorite colors are yellow, green and brown, colors of the Carpathian region, that embody the Sun and green area. She sometimes adds a little bit of a blue color of a sky. This article is a selfportrait of a potter, who is a hard working and creative artist, and in love with both her Motherland and its people.
