The all-Ukrainian exhibition dedicated to the 350-th anniver-sary of the Berestetska battle, an event that proved courage of Cossacks as well as their striving to make their Motherland inde-pendent, took place in the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine (Kyiv, Borysohlibska str.). The exhibition represented the major kinds of folk art, such as wooden sculptures, weaving, folk paintings, ceramic sculptures, de-corative paintings, art works made from metal, embroidery, folk toys, etc. Both tragic and heroic events inspired folk artists to create their masterpieces, among them there are an Honorable Artist of Ukraine Marfa Tymchenko, Ivan Apollonov, VasyI Zavhorodniy, VasyI Sidak, Serhiy Tkachenko, Volodymyr Lu-piychuk, Mykola and Oleksandra Telizhenko, Svitlana thnatchenko, Heorhiy Kozhokar and others. The artists showed a great interest to the historical topic as well as to the searching of a positive national hero. The article is written by Yevhen Shevchenko. |
