All-Ukrainian Folk Art exhibition dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, that took place in the "Ukrainian House" Palace of Arts impressed visitors by beautiful and unique exhibits. Six hundred folk artists exhibited more than 1000 art works at the exhibition. It was a kind of a great folk art report made on behalf of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine and under the supervision of its Chairman Volodymyr Priadka, that showed a wonderful national art style. The exhi-bition was divided into several parts according to the kinds of folk art. In the first part of the exhibition there were folk art paintings and sculp-tures, dedicated to the struggle for freedom and independence of Ukraine. These were the art works by Ivan Novobranets, Yuriy Shmyhol, Heorhiy Kozhokar, Volodymyr Pre-deyn and Mykhailo Onatsko. Ceramic art, that was founded five thousand years ago, continues its development. Among the most well-known centers of Ukrainian ce-ramic art, that were represented at the exhibition were Oleshnia, Opish-nia as well as Lviv, Havarechchyna, Chervonohrad, Vasylkiv, Kosiv and others. You could spend hours looking at Petrykivka decorative paintings, especially unique were the paintings by Marfa Tymchenko, Ivan Prykhodko as well as Ivan Skolozdra's paintings on glass. There were new vytynanky (figures of different shapes cut from paper) represented at the exhibition as well. The central part of the exhi-bition was dedicated to the tapestries by the best Ukrainian tapestry artists, that demonstrated originality and deepness of Ukrainian culture. Among other kinds of folk art there were weaving, embroidery, wooden sculptures as well as art works made from straw, that were brought from all the regions of Ukraine. Young artists took part at the exhibition as well. Especially unique art works were represented by the graduates of Kyiv Institute of Decorative - Applied Arts and Design named after M.Boichuk. The members of the National Union of Folk Art Masters of Ukraine from the United States exhib-ited their art works as well. We can draw the only one conclusion that Independent Ukraine is strengthening with the help of high spirit of art as well as the development of the National Art.
