In June, 2000 there was "Petrykivka Dyvotsvit" (Petry-kivka Miracle) exhibition held in the "Ukrainian House" Palace of Arts in Kyiv. It represented about 100 Petrykivka paintings on paper that date back to the late 40s - early 90s. The paintings were taken from the collections of Dnipropetrovsk museums. This was the first retro exhibition that fully showed the develop-ment of the painting art during the war period from the scientif-ic point of view, without any Soviet stereotypes. Julia Smoliy, an art expert, analyzes the main trends of this art phenomenon, studies different art directions and art of individual artists. The article is illustrated with the art works that were repre-sented at the exhibition, that were kindly provided for publica-tion by the Administration of Dnipropetrovsk Art Museum. |
