AROUND THE POTTER'S WHEEL
The 2nd All-Ukrainian Potters' Workshop held in the village of Bubnivka (Vinnytsya oblast), being one of the numerous events and exhibitions carried out last year by the National Union of Folk Art Masters, played a significant role in modern pottery development in the whole of Ukraine. Participants from 9 oblasts were competing using the facilities of the artistic-manufacturing association "Ceramics of Bubnivka" headed by Mykhailo Vdovtsov, and proved their loyalty to folk art traditions and to innovations in their development. Illa ZIobina writes about ten days of creativity in a picturesque nook of the Vinnytsya oblast, which resulted in more than just 245 exquisite pottery works presented at the final exhibition. The creative festival itself was very successful. It also gave a very clear recognition of today's problems of the pottery craft. Among them is the complete decay of some formerly well-known centres, and the hard routine of the craftsmen who need not only "support for an event", but day-to-day assistance
